There's something about cigarette smoke that just pisses me off. Maybe it has something to do with my father quitting when I was young (which is a good thing) then suddenly getting back the habit when I went into high school (which is a bad thing). Or perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I was raised to stay away from cigarette smoke by my parents. Whatever the reason, I simply hate cigarette smoke, to the point that I can't get along well with a person who I know, smokes.
Thankfully, most of my friends do not smoke. I say most. Because a small number simply can't kick the habit of inhaling that damned drug, plus, its getting worse for some. I try my best to ask people not to smoke for their good, but they're just too stubborn...
Take Jamie for example. She started smoking when she was about 18 years old. She is 21 this year, and if she doesn't conciously think of the way she appears to other people, she'd probably be smoking something like half a pack a day (approximately 10 sticks).
Then there's Pai -- someone who doesn't like people who blow smoke in her direction. Yet she tried to smoke while she was still in second year high school, and has never quit since. The last time she took a cigarette stick in her mouth was probably sometime in 2001, and she has admitted to not plan to quit anytime soon. What makes me angrier in her case, is that she's got a respiratory ailment!!!! Smoking (even if its passive) will just worsen her condition! But she doesn't care. Apparently, she gets something from inhaling nicotine smoke that puts her in a relaxed mood.
Admittedly, I'm curious about this addiction. There are days when I want to take a puff myself, just to know how it feels, and maybe from that knowledge, get rid of my intense hatred of this substance. But whenever I remember the reasons my friends give for taking the damned things (I need it to lift my depression, I need it to take a crap, I need my nicotine fix...) I just feel more angry at them, taking their frustrations away with the help of some addictive substance. Additionally, whenever I smell the stench of cigarette smoke, I just explode with hatred for the thing -- that sort of reaction just does wonders for your curiosity...
In the meantime, I "try" to get along with the smokers around me. Like my father, Jamie, Pai, and some others that I don't plan on socializing with unless they cure their unnecessary addiction. I know I'm biased because I haven't tried it yet, but my nose just can't stand the smell!!!! And it'll be a long time before I even consider smoking, myself. Unless the act could somehow help in stopping my friends in curing this smoking "disease".
I keep my thoughts here. My guilt, my truths, my lies. All you have to do is find it...

After a few minutes of thinking, I finally concede to the fact that I am not exactly a good-looking person. People, no matter what they say with regards to what they look for in a person, will always be attracted someone's external beauty. The first impression that people have of a person is a combination of the first words heard and the APPEARANCE of that same individual after all, if you ever want to contest the previous sentence. If you don't have the second half of the first impression "equation", then you're almost wasting your time...
Apparently, Blogger went down yesterday at around 2:00 PM (+8:00 EST)... not that it was too big of an issue for me.
Anyway, I just got to thinking -- I often see medical students, poring over their textbooks inside coffee houses and fast food stores, but I never see engineering students frequenting such places to study. Is it because most engineering students don't have enough money to spend on leisurely coffee? Or is it simply because engineering students are much, much better than other students when it comes to studying? I'll probably never know...
Imagine being teased with someone you like. How would you react if s/he suddenly responded to the joke with "Are you insulting me by pairing me with THAT person?"
For some strange reason, there has never been a person who has responded positively to a joke like that when I am the one being paired with that person... It's as if everyone wants to be rid of me, or doesn't want to have anything to do with me. As far as I know though, there's nothing wrong with what I am doing...
Perhaps with a little more thinking, I'll find the cause of this problem...

It took me a while to get enough confidence and start my own blogspot. Here's to hoping I manage to keep enough of my inspiration to keep this spot going for some time. Its not a journal, yet. And I don't plan to keep a journal that can't keep events in my life accurate. Its just some place that can keep my thoughts, even for a while. And a place that I can rant freely.
So there.
Cheers!
